Cats have taken over dogs as the most popular pets in the U.S. The reason, perhaps, may be due to its low maintenance feature compared to dogs. Unlike dogs that require so much effort to raise from feeding and bathing them, cats only need to be fed because they can clean themselves.

Cats make great pets and in fact, they have been amazing human companions for 9,500 years now. They also possess intelligence as shown in their ability to obey simple commands. Humans have loved them because of their sweet ways of purring and snuggling whenever near people.

The most popular cat breed is said to be the domestic shorthaired cat, a product of different breeds. As of 2006, the Cat Fancier’s Association (CFA) said 100 million pet cats now exist in the Western world. The CFA has the biggest registry of pedigree cats in the whole world.
