Pro-animal groups

Various animal groups and organizations exist around the world today to offer protection to all kinds of animals. They are classified as animal rights groups and animal welfare groups.

The animal welfare groups urge for the protection of non-human animals, notably those used by people in laboratories or in entertainment. They also look after the welfare of domestic animals that are used for food, labor or as pets. They seek legal, social and financial ways to help animals. Animal welfare groups are further divided into several categories including those that focus on wild and domestic animals throughout the world, those protecting specific pets like dogs only or cats only.

Animal rights advocates, on the other hand, put great value on animals and argue that animals should not be used or kept as property by people. These groups firmly believe that animals deserve to live their lives free from suffering and exploitation. They call for the animals’ humane treatment and equal consideration since animals they say also feel pain, pleasure, fear, frustration, loneliness and love just like humans.
